How the dimensions are calculated
Height is derived from the width and ratio: height = width × (ratio height ÷ ratio width). A 1080px-wide 9:16 Reel is therefore 1080 × 16 ÷ 9 = 1920px tall. Megapixels are width × height ÷ 1,000,000.
Safe margins are percentages of the height: top margin = height × top %. For full-screen vertical placements, platforms overlay the profile name and close button at the top (~14%) and the caption, CTA button and reply bar at the bottom (~35%). Keep text, faces and logos inside the middle band.
Why 1080px?
Most platforms display at up to 1080px wide on mobile. Exporting larger rarely improves quality because the file is recompressed on upload; exporting smaller looks soft on modern phones.
